Nepal’s New Autism Schools: A Promising Step or Risk of Isolation? Balancing Specialised and Inclusive Education
On 2 April 2026, the Nepali government announced plans to establish one autism-based model school in each of the seven provinces. While this initiative promises much-needed specialised support for autistic children, important questions remain: Will these schools truly advance inclusion, or could they risk long-term isolation? This article explores the pros and cons of specialised versus inclusive education and what a balanced approach might look like for Nepal.
