GDC Student Support Key Objective
Our key objective at GDC is to give all students access to high-quality courses while fostering functional, inclusive practices. An inclusive college culture implies that all members of every community are respected and given the assistance they need so they can fully engage, learn, grow, and thrive.
At GDC, we are implementing a comprehensive education agenda to provide students with more individualised assistance, direction, guidance and resources. Our goal is to remove obstacles to access and participate in learning while promoting the inclusion of all students with additional needs. Inclusion benefits all. Student’s with additional needs (SWANS), as well as students without additional needs, benefit academically and socially from interacting and participating in inclusive settings.
Student Assistance Programme
Our student assistance programme incorporates a high-quality functional needs-based strategy for students with impairments. Our support staff at GDC is known as “the team around the student”. This may include the student’s, parents, carers, teachers and teacher aides. A GDC inclusion leader will be the coordinator responsible for students with additional needs across the school.
Allied Health Professionals
All allied health professionals are also invited to assist in developing a support program that will assist the student to succeed. It is paramount that all student’s experiences are recognised and valued. Further, all students have equitable access to resources, participation and opportunities to demonstrate their learning and achievements.
Inclusive Education Helps
Inclusive education helps foster a cohesive, supportive and functional education community for all. If students from all families and backgrounds are supported educationally, they see their goals are achievable. At GDC, our top objective is ensuring that all students have access to high-quality resources and individual support. We provide assistance for students to help them engage, learn, grow and thrive in their areas of interest.
Academic advising and career counselling
It can be challenging to navigate the opportunities and difficulties of study on your own. At GDC we are proud to offer each student the opportunuty to talk to someone who has been there about your thoughts, ideas and concerns around your current and future learning experiences. It may even be possible to speak with an academic staff member in your faculty to exchange ideas, discuss your objectives and passions, and resolve any difficulties.
Career counsellors can assist you in evaluating, comprehending, and choosing various practical work prospects. At GDC it is our responsibility to listen to your concerns, help you think more clearly about future career choices and assist you to explore any options you may have (so you can focus on writing a winning resume and cover letter).
At GDC we are able to provide useful practical information, such as the degree and/or skill requirements for a certain employment, vacancies in the job market domesticaly and abroad, assit you in writing your resume and cover letter and even set up a mock job interview. All of these services are provided to help you “Take Charge Of Your Future.”

Accommodation and living assistance
Studying and living away from home can be challenging and worrying for you and your family. This is because living away from home, especially in another country, has unique challenges. These challenges can be with accommodation, food shopping, transport, and so on.
At GDC, we want our students and their families to feel that they have safe and secure accommodation and assistance with everyday living. If eligible, GDC may be able to assist you in accessing Australian Government or State accommodation assistance in Australia.
